An Evening of Learning and Connection with Professor Liu Youzhang at AIM Healthcare

On 19 October 2026, around 40 Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practitioners came together at AIM Healthcare in Subang Jaya with a shared purpose: to learn, exchange ideas and connect traditional knowledge with everyday clinical practice.

Our guest for the evening was Professor Liu Youzhang (刘友章), who joined us to share his experience in TCM spleen and stomach theory. It was an opportunity to step away from daily routines and make space for professional learning.

Bringing traditional knowledge into the conversation

How can knowledge passed down through generations inform the way practitioners think about care today? This question was at the heart of the evening’s theme, “The Inheritance and Clinical Practice of Spleen and Stomach Theory.”

Professor Liu was introduced as a chief physician, professor and doctoral supervisor in gastroenterology at the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine. His work includes TCM approaches to digestive conditions and integrative perspectives on complex illnesses.

The programme brought together the core ideas of spleen and stomach theory, TCM pattern differentiation for digestive conditions, and clinical case sharing. It also included perspectives on complex conditions, including myasthenia gravis, with time set aside for discussion.

For readers unfamiliar with TCM, “spleen and stomach” here describes a traditional framework for understanding health. It does not mean exactly the same thing as these organs and their functions in modern medicine.

A chance to learn together

The evening was about more than a single lecture. It brought practitioners into the same room to consider clinical experiences, explore different perspectives and continue learning from one another.

That is why gatherings like this matter to us at AIM Healthcare. They create space for professional exchange and thoughtful conversations about health and care.

A heartfelt thank-you to Professor Liu

Another milestone worth celebrating

Alongside this occasion, we are delighted to share a milestone for Dr. Kong Why Hong (郭伟康医生): his appointment as a Visiting Professor (客座教授) by the Traditional Medicine Association of Guangdong Province, China (广东省传统医学会).

As President of the Malaysia Association of Chinese Integrative Medicine (MACIM), Dr. Kong is committed to professional education and collaboration between traditional and modern medicine.

This appointment marks a new chapter in that work, with opportunities to strengthen Malaysia–China connections in medical education, clinical knowledge sharing and research.

Our warmest congratulations to Dr. Kong. We look forward to the learning and collaboration ahead.

Keeping the conversation going

For AIM Healthcare and iElder, this evening was a reminder of the value of coming together: to share experience, keep asking questions and build connections across the healthcare community.

Thank you, Professor Liu, and thank you to all the practitioners who were part of the evening. We look forward to welcoming our community to more educational talks and exchanges.
